Playground Enhancement

We are very excited about enriching the play opportunities these additions will bring to our students’ recesses. It’s been our vision to revamp the entire school grounds to make this the best play area Victoria has to offer.

The new playground will cost a total of $130,261.95 and is only possible through donations and PAC fundraisers. We’ve received a generous donation of $18,000 from Mr. Ron Davis and he has pledged to match your donations of up to $50,000! And your donations are tax-deductible! For matching, your donation has to be received by the last day of school, June 24, 2020.

With either method, note “Donation to SJD playground“. You will receive a tax receipt from the District.

Your donations will enhance the play experience for all the children at the school and in the neighbourhood for years to come!

Project Preview

This tall climbing structure is planned for the empty kindergarten area just outside the library windows. Cost – $71,692
A natural play area will be installed around the stump in the mulch area near the rocks. Stumps of different heights will be installed around the existing stump to enhance student imaginative play in this area. Cost – $15,465
A spinner will be installed near the existing playground equipment near the asphalt path in the back.
Cost – $32,707
The Laura Gardom Memorial Classroom outdoor classroom is being installed on the bare slope between the Fairfield Community Centre and the Kindergarten classrooms.

The full cost of this outdoor classroom has been generously donated by Ron Davis, in memory of his mother, Laura Gardom, who attended SJD 1927-1935.
